Hi, I am Cynthia Sarmiento. I am a third generation Colorado native. I live in Thornton with my husband, Ben, and my Incredible son, Emiliano. I received my undergraduate degree from Regis University where I became solidly entrenched in the practice of service learning and servant leadership. I went on to get my graduate degree from The University of Colorado at Denver. Throughout my career I have worked in government and private industry and have owned more than one business. I have committed to service in many rolls from working as a Red Cross Disaster Services Mental Health Worker to Being a Pro-Bono Public Speaker and Trainer. This election year I ran for office and although that race did not find me an election, I know God will open another door for me. I started JustDefy.Org to shape a brighter future for my son and show him what it means to fight for what you believe in. He is my rock, freedom is my reason, liberty for Colorado is my focus!
Hi, I am Audrey Herman. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of four. I graduated with Honors from Colorado Christian University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in 2015. I also earned Licensed Practical Nursing certificate from Front Range in 2011. In the past few years I have become deeply involved in local politics and political activism. I ran for House District 34 Representative for this election year 2020. While the outcome was not as hoped, I am as passionate as ever and my desire to impact change has only intensified. I want to make true, lasting change. I believe that our actions now will affect all our children’s futures and the future in our current trajectory is bleak. I chose to act for you Colorado.
Hi, I am Marie Cass. I am married, with two young adult children, and have lived in Thornton for the last twelve years. I currently work for Colorado Christian University and hold a Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University. My undergraduate degree comes from the University of Colorado. A left-leaning liberal until the age of 28, I voted only for Democrats until the 2004 Presidential election. At that time a major life change occurred that shifted my beliefs and values substantially. Still, for many years I remained mostly politically inactive, believing politics just weren’t “my thing.” However, within recent years, and especially in recent months, something has awakened with me. In light of the recent events in our country and our communities, I have realized I do have a voice to share and I do have a part to play in the future that we allow to be created for our children and grandchildren. Many everyday citizens of Colorado, like you and me, are starting to see that we are at an unprecedented cultural crossroads in our communities and now is the time for each one of us to stand up and speak up for what is right. There is too much at stake not to!
Hi, I am Lindy Larson. I am a proud transplant to this great state, wife to an amazing firefighter,
and homeschooling mom to three gorgeous kids. I completed my undergrad at Colorado State
University and worked as a Technical Editor/Writer for the USDA Forest Service. I returned to
school in 2016 to complete a Master’s degree in Bioethics from Trinity International University.
My passion for change in my community and nation led me to host workshops on advance
directives and write on topics surrounding end-of-life care. I am currently pursuing a second
Master’s in Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. My heart is with
my family, and when I’m not teaching or studying, you can find me hiking, biking, or enjoying a new restaurant downtown. My calling and passion lie in education, activism, and ministry. I believe that truth and light will prevail, and the power to enact change is in each of us, so let your voice be heard!
Hi, I am Jen Olmstead. I am married and have two amazing children. Each day, I am blessed to get up and enjoy the natural beauty of Colorado. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Metro State in Behavioral Science with a minor in ECE. I am a licensed teacher and have enjoyed teaching young children for over a decade now. While I’ve always done my own research on political candidates and issues impacting our great state, I wasn’t really politically active until a couple years ago when a bill was introduced in the CO legislature that hit close to my heart. Since then, I have become increasingly involved. If I want to see change, I need to stand up, speak out, and be involved. I fight for what is right in hopes that my children won’t have to! I want to show them and teach them that if you don’t fight for your rights there may be no one else who does.
